Quick Start
To get started with ONYX RIP, check that you meet the Minimum System Requirements and follow these simple steps:
Install the software
For more detailed and troubleshooting information, see Installing the Software

Software License

Ensure you are connected to the internet.
-
Open the software application and follow the on-screen instructions to install the program.

Select [Activate a License] when the licensing dialog appears. Enter your software license and select [Activate].

Once the license is verified, the installation process will resume.
-
Click [Finish] to exit the program installation once the installation is complete.
USB Hardware License

-
Plug in your USB Hardware Key to your computer.
-
Open the software application and follow the on-screen instructions to install the program.
-
Click [Finish] to exit the program installation once the installation is complete.

Software License

-
Ensure you are connected to the internet.
-
If you have previously used a hardware license, ensure it is unplugged and not discoverable on your network.
-
If you are upgrading an existing software license, you will receive an email with instructions on how to update your license. Do this before installing the software.
-
Open the software application and follow the on-screen instructions to install the program.
-
If the licensing dialog appears, select [License Manager]. Then select [Software license] from the license drop-down menu and continue.
-
Once the license is verified, the installation process will resume.
-
Click [Finish] to exit the program installation once the installation is complete.
USB Hardware License

-
If your purchase was an upgrade, a new hardware key is not provided. You will receive a key update link in an email. Run the key update before installing the software.

Plug in your Hardware Key to your computer.
-
Open the software application and follow the on-screen instructions to install the program.
-
Click [Finish] to exit the program installation once the installation is complete.
Install your printers

For more detailed information, see Installing a Printer.
New Installation

-
Install your software.
-
The “Printer Install” dialog will appear.
-
Use the menu to select the printers and media you want to install and click [Install].
-
Once the installation is complete, click [Finish]. The program will open automatically.
Upgrade Installation

-
During installation, you will be able to import previous printers and settings.
-
Previously backed-up printers will show in the “Printers” section of the install dialog. You may also drag and drop or browse for a printer install package in this window.
-
Ensure the printers you would like to install are selected, and then click [Install].
-
If you would like a printer not previously installed, see Installing a Printer.
Configure your printers

Set up your Media

If you have not already done so, load the media into your printer following your printer’s instructions.
-
Open RIP-Queue and highlight the printer in the Printer area (top-left corner). The media and settings are displayed to the right of the printer.
-
If the information in RIP-Queue matches your media, you are ready to print. If not, click the
icon of the [Current Media and Page Size] on the right side of the main screen. These icons open the "Change Media Page Size" and "Placement Strategy” dialogs.

In the [Media] and [Page size] sections, use the drop-down arrows to select the options that match the media and page size options that you want to use. Click [OK].
-
In the [Placement] section, click the drop-down arrow of the placement strategy and select the placement method you want to use. Click the
icon to configure your placement options. Click [OK] to complete the setup.

RIP-Queue

Click the [Open] icon on the toolbar or choose File > Open from the menu. This displays the "Open" dialog.
-
On the right side of the dialog, select the printer you want to use from the drop-down menu. If you have developed Quick Sets, select your Quick Set. If you have not, leave this setting as [Default].
-
If you want to send your image to Job Editor, select the [Open in Job Editor] option.
-
On the left side of the dialog, browse your image, highlight it, and click [Open]. The image will open and move to the Jobs Ready to Print area
Job Editor

-
In Job Editor, click the [Open] icon on the toolbar or click File > Open. This displays the "Open" dialog.

On the right side of the dialog, select the printer you want to use from the drop-down menu. If you have developed Quick Sets, select your Quick Set. If you have not, leave this setting as Default.

If you want to apply the settings most recently used, check the [Apply Settings from…] option.
-
On the left side of the dialog, browse your image, highlight it, and click [Open]. This opens the job in Job Editor. From here, you can modify and edit your image.

When you have finished modifying the image, send the image to RIP-Queue by clicking File > Submit.
Print an image

Once you have opened an image into RIP-Queue and set up your printers and media, you are ready to print.
Click on the image you want to print and drag it into the "Jobs Ready to Print" area of your window.
NOTE: The job will not print if the media settings for the job do not match the media settings for the printer. If the media settings do not match, the job remains in the "Waiting for Media" state until you change the media type for the printer or the job, so they match.
To change the media for a job:
-
Highlight the job in the "Jobs Ready to Print" area. This displays information about the job in the "Job Information" area on the right.

Click the
icon or double-click on your image. This opens the "Job Properties" dialog.

In the [Basic Properties] section, change the Media configuration, such as Media Group, Media Name, or Mode Name, to match the desired media.
-
Click [OK].
NOTE: In the “Job Properties” dialog, you can set Bleed, Grommets, Marks, Sewing Marks, and Workflow, or enter job information for the job in the [Job Ticket] section from the tree.
Set up contour cutting

Create a cut path in a vector-based drawing program such as Adobe® Illustrator® or CorelDRAW®.
-
Select a cutter you want to use.
-
Create a special Quick Set that uses the [Use Cutter Path Prefix] and set [Add PDF Trim Box] to Cut Paths or [Generate Tile Outline Cut Paths] for your specific cutter. This creates the cut file from the cut paths in the image.
